There is no single method used by every psychic or reader. Depending on the practitioner, a reading may involve one or more of the following:

Cartomancy — using cards as a method of interpretation, including Tarot, Oracle cards, and other card systems.

Psychic platforms can operate in very different ways, and understanding the difference can be extremely important before purchasing a reading.

At Oracle Scope, we generally distinguish between three major categories:

Psychic Marketplace

A marketplace brings together a large number of independent or semi-independent psychics and allows customers to choose between different practitioners. The platform typically provides the technology, marketplace, payment system, and customer acquisition. While psychics set up their own profiles, stagenames and rates.

Psychic Call Center or Psychic Hub

A call-center or hub model operates more like a centralized service. Psychics may work through a common system, and the platform may have greater involvement in scheduling, customer allocation, pricing, or service management. So, typically psychics are employees of a call center, they operate on-site, they receive training sessions before going online/live and have access to tools (phones, computers, Tarot cards etc...) their rates are set based on specific requirements they should meet, they have monthly targets and receive payslips every month.

Personal Psychic Platform

A personal platform is operated primarily by an individual psychic or a small personal practice. The customer is generally dealing directly with the practitioner rather than choosing from a large marketplace.

These three models can provide very different customer experiences.

Understanding which type of service you are using is one of the first things we recommend doing before booking a reading.

This is one of the most difficult questions in the industry.

Based on Oracle Scope's own testing and personal reading experiences, we have found a very high proportion of practitioners whose claimed abilities did not appear genuine or whose readings did not meet our criteria for an authentic psychic experience.

Across the practitioners we have personally tested and received readings from, our internal findings have indicated that more than 82% did not appear genuine according to our assessment criteria.

This figure represents Oracle Scope's own testing experience and methodology. It should not be interpreted as a scientifically established statistic representing every psychic practitioner or every psychic platform in existence.

We have also found meaningful differences between platforms. Some platforms appear to have substantially more questionable or non-genuine practitioners than others.

A person can learn and master many of the tools and techniques commonly used in psychic or spiritual readings. Someone can study Tarot, astrology, numerology, symbolism, card interpretation, and other systems and become highly proficient at using them.

However, there is a distinction between learning the tools of reading and claiming to possess a natural intuitive or psychic ability.

From the perspective commonly held within the psychic community, psychic ability is considered something inherent or naturally present rather than something that can simply be learned from a course or book.

In other words, someone can learn to become a reader, but that does not necessarily mean that learning the tools makes someone psychic.

These terms are frequently used interchangeably online, but they can describe different practices.

Psychic

In the traditional understanding used within the psychic community, a psychic is someone believed to possess a natural intuitive ability to perceive energy, emotions, circumstances, or information beyond ordinary observation.

Some psychics describe experiencing impressions, sensations, images, feelings, or visions relating to a person's circumstances or possible future developments.

Reader

A reader generally works with an interpretive system or tool.

A reader may interpret:

• Symbols
• Other divination systems

A reader may use these systems to explore patterns, possibilities, and potential future developments.

A person can therefore become skilled at reading without necessarily claiming to possess an innate psychic ability.

Medium

A medium is traditionally understood as someone who perceives or communicates with deceased people or entities associated with what is sometimes described as the spiritual realm or "the veil."

Mediumship may involve perceived sounds, voices, images, sensations, emotions, or other impressions that the medium interprets as messages.

One important distinction in traditional mediumship is that mediumship and fortune-telling are not the same practice.

The term clairvoyance traditionally refers to an alleged ability to perceive information through means beyond the ordinary physical senses, often described as "clear seeing."

There are many different interpretations of clairvoyance within spiritual and esoteric traditions.

At Oracle Scope, we distinguish the concept of clairvoyance from conventional psychic readings. A person who experiences spontaneous visual or altered-state experiences should not automatically be assumed to be a psychic reader or Tarot reader.

Some spiritual traditions also associate clairvoyance with experiences described as astral projection or out-of-body experiences. These concepts are not universally defined in the same way. Astro-Projection cannot be a technique or a tool used to unlock the future or interpret what's going on.

Therefore, when someone describes themselves as a clairvoyant, it is important to understand what they actually mean by the term and what type of service they provide, rather than assuming that "clairvoyant" automatically means psychic reader.

A soulmate is traditionally described as a person with whom you share a particularly deep emotional, spiritual, or energetic connection.

The concept of a twin flame comes from spiritual and esoteric traditions and is interpreted in many different ways.

Unlike the simplified version commonly presented online, a twin-flame connection is not necessarily understood as a perfect romantic relationship.

Some traditions describe twin flames as people who share an exceptionally strong energetic connection. This connection may be perceived as highly harmonious or, conversely, extremely challenging.
